What is Thought Field Therapy?
Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a non-invasive and effective technique for the elimination of emotional distress. It is believed that TFT gives immediate relief for PTSD, addictions, phobias, fears and anxieties by directly treating the blockage in the energy flow created by a disturbing thought pattern. It is the experience of many clients that TFT virtually eliminates any negative feeling previously associated with negative thoughts. In many cases, improvment has been shown in those attending a PTSD treatment facility or for those in trauma recovery.
In practice, thought field therapy is believed to eliminate disturbances created by negative emotions by tapping and pressing on key meridian points in specific sequences. This gentle program offers the latest technology in removing disruptions in the body’s energy system. It is believed that these disruptions are responsible for causing physical problems, negative emotions, addictions and cravings. Thought Field Therapy is a mind-body treatment using a combination of modern science, oriental medicine and the body’s energy system. Other groups of people who may find benefits in thought field therapy include those enrolled in an anorexia nervosa treatment center, drug rehab facility, bulimia help center or compulsive overeating facility.
History of Thought Field Therapy
This therapy was founded by Dr. Roger Callahan. Callahan discovered this therapy when treating a patient of his with a severe fear of water. At the time, Dr. Callahan was taking a class in acupuncture. Because of this class, he was inspired to have his patient, Mary try a new technique he thought might help. He instructed her to tap the under area of her eye and much to her surprise she was cured of her phobia.
Originally, this therapy was known as Callahan Techniques. Over time it has come to be referred to as Thought Field Therapy, or TFT. In this therapy certain energy fields or meridians are tapped along the body to produce healing in certain mental and physical illnesses. These energy fields are referred to as “thought fields.” and anything that blocks these fields are referred to as “perturbations.” Perturbations are the psychological and physical problems in our lives. Residents at depression treatment facilities often find great relief in this type of therapy.
