Saturday, February 20, 2010

Beverly Hills Country Club

Beverly Hills, CA 4:00 – 8:00pm

Join the Southern California Chapters of iaedp as we come together to celebrate and honor National Eating Disorder Awareness Week through Art, Music, Entertainment and Special Guest Appearances.

Featuring the Real Beauty Campaign

The Southern California Chapters of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) have all come together to explore a “Real Beauty Campaign.” We are very excited to share a personal vision of authentic beauty created by you. We will be challenging the current media belief of what is beautiful by showing an art exhibit that represents real beauty both inside and out. This exhibit was created to combat the unrealistic and often dangerous ideal of weight, size, shape and beauty dependence that today’s media and fashion industry has pressed upon us. Frightening statistics have surfaced demonstrating the social repercussions of this media’s influence. Eating Disorders, low self/body esteem, as well as alcohol and drug addictions continue to be on the rise among our youth. In light of this, we are hoping you will join in our Real Beauty Campaign Art Exhibit to honor and celebrate National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. This exhibit will include voices and interpretations of authentic beauty from preschoolers through our senior population.
